UUID Generator is a 100% free, browser-based utility that enables you to generate random v4 or time-ordered v7 uuids in bulk. Unlike traditional cloud converters, all processing executes locally on your device with zero server uploads, delivering immediate results and ironclad data privacy.
About the UUID Generator
A UUID (universally unique identifier, also called a GUID) is a 128-bit ID such as 3f2b8c1e-9d4a-4f6b-8a2e-1c5d7e9f0a3b. UUIDs can be generated anywhere without coordination and are practically guaranteed never to collide, which makes them ideal as database keys, request IDs and file names.
Version 4 UUIDs are fully random. Version 7 UUIDs start with a millisecond timestamp, so they sort in creation order, which improves database index performance. Both are generated with your browser's cryptographically secure random number generator.
How to use the UUID Generator
- Choose UUID version 4 or version 7.

Frequently asked questions
Can two UUIDs ever be the same?
In theory yes, in practice no. A v4 UUID has 122 random bits; you would need to generate billions per second for many years to have a meaningful chance of a collision.
Should I use UUID v4 or v7?
Use v7 for database primary keys because it is time-ordered, which keeps B-tree indexes compact. Use v4 when you do not want the ID to reveal when it was created.
Is a GUID the same as a UUID?
Yes. GUID is Microsoft's name for the same 128-bit identifier format. Some Microsoft tools display it in uppercase and wrapped in braces.
