JSON Formatter & Validator is a 100% free, browser-based utility that enables you to beautify, minify and validate json with error locations. Unlike traditional cloud converters, all processing executes locally on your device with zero server uploads, delivering immediate results and ironclad data privacy.
About the JSON Formatter & Validator
The JSON Formatter turns compact or messy JSON into clean, indented, readable text, and minifies it back into a single line when you need to save bytes. As you type, it validates the document and points to the exact line and column of any syntax error, such as a missing comma or a trailing comma.
Because the formatter runs entirely in your browser, it is safe to paste API responses, configuration files and data containing tokens or customer information. Nothing is sent to a server.
How to use the JSON Formatter & Validator

- Choose the indentation (2 spaces, 4 spaces or tabs) and whether to sort keys.

Frequently asked questions
Why is my JSON invalid?
The most common causes are trailing commas after the last item, single quotes instead of double quotes, unquoted keys, and comments. Strict JSON allows none of these. The error message shows the line and column where parsing failed.
Does formatting change my data?
No. Formatting only changes whitespace. Values, key order (unless you enable "Sort keys") and types are kept exactly. Very large integers beyond JavaScript's safe range may lose precision, as in any JavaScript-based tool.
Is it safe to paste sensitive JSON?
Yes. Parsing and formatting happen locally in your browser. Your JSON is never uploaded or stored.
